A tree felling head is suspended allowing it to grasp a tree to be felled. A chainsaw 109 is programmed in association with sensors to follow the steps used in the manual felling of a tree &ndash front and back cutting, with the result that the felling head can be lighter allowing use of a lighter and more manoeuvrable transport machine with less environmental impact.
