The present invention pertains to: a fat reducing agent which contains fibroblast growth factor 9 as an active ingredient and which reduces the amount of fat accumulated in hepatic cells； and a drug that is for the treatment and/or prevention of fatty liver diseases, particularly NAFLD, and contains said fat reducing agent as an active ingredient. The present invention is capable of ameliorating fatty liver associated with fatty liver diseases, particularly NASH/NAFLD, and/or reducing the accumulation of fat in the liver, and makes it possible to provide a direct therapeutic means and/or a preventative means for fatty liver diseases, independent of or in addition to exercise therapy.
