PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit enlargement, complication, and cost increase of a transportation assist device and a dolly.SOLUTION: A transportation assist device includes: wheels a driving mechanism which outputs a rotational driving force smaller than a rotational driving force that a dolly requires for self-propelled movement a clutch mechanism which is switched between a transmission state where the clutch mechanism transmits the rotational driving force to the wheels and a non-transmission state where the clutch mechanism does not transmit the rotational driving force to the wheels and a reception part configured to receive a driving start instruction. A control part causes the driving mechanism to output the rotational driving force and turns the clutch mechanism into the transmission state in a time period in which driving conditions are satisfied after the driving start instruction is received.
