PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external composition that exhibits excellent effect exerting prevention or improvement effect of wrinkles, skin flabbiness or the like, and beautifully whitening effect.SOLUTION: An external composition contains pterostilbene monoglycoside expressed in formula (1). The external composition is used for applications of promoting production of type 4 collagen, imparting resilience to skin, inhibiting tyrosinase activity, and imparting beautifully whitening effect, and the external composition does not contain a carotenoid compound, and substantially consists of pterostilbene monoglycoside only.
