A method of preparing an oxidised polysaccharide-protein conjugate byoxidising a polysaccharide with anoxidising agent to form an oxidised polysaccharide and combining such oxidizedpolysaccharide with a protein. The oxidisedpolysaccharide is reacted with a protein to form a composition comprising aconjugate wherein the oxidised polysaccharide and theprotein are conjugated via one or more imine bonds and wherein the oxidisedpolysaccharide comprises essentially no alpha-hydroxyaldehyde units. The conjugate may be used to provide sustained or latentactivity of the protein.
