The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cancer and to a food composition for preventing or alleviating cancer, wherein a Julbernardia globiflora extract is included as an active ingredient. The composition including the Julbernardia globiflora extract of the present invention does not exhibit toxicity for normal cells but induces the apoptosis of cancer cells to exhibit a cancer cell killing effect. Accordingly, the composition can be usefully applied as an anticancer composition so as to be used as the pharmaceutical composition or the food composition for preventing or treating cancer.본 발명은 줄베르나디아 글로비플로라(Julbernardiaglobiflora) 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 암의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 암의 예방 또는 개선용 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 줄베르나디아 글로비플로라 추출물을 포함하는 조성물은 정상세포에 대해서는 독성을 나타내지 않으면서, 암세포의 세포자멸사를 유발하여 암세포 사멸효과를 나타내므로 항암 조성물로 유용하게 사용될 수 있어, 암의 예방 또는 치료를 위한 약학적 조성물 또는 식품 조성물로 이용될 수 있다.
