PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system and an endoscope system driving method, which are easy to use in observation, diagnosis, or the like.SOLUTION: An endoscope system 10 comprises an endoscope 12, an image acquisition part 97, an aberration connection part 705, and a monitor 18. The endoscope 12 includes: an insertion part 12a to be inserted into an observation object; a direct view observation part 41 having a field of view in a distal end direction of the insertion part 12a; a side view observation part 42 having a field of view in a side surface direction of the insertion part 12a; and a second protrusion part 32 that protrudes from the insertion part 12a and forms a blind angle in the field of view of the side view observation part 42. The image acquisition part 97 acquires a direct view observation image 111 using the direct view observation part 41 and acquires a side view observation image 112 using the side view observation part 42. The aberration connection part 705 converts at least one of the direct view observation image 111 and the side view observation image 112 into an image to which aberration can be favorably connected.
