PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article in which a liquid flow over a high polymer area is effectively suppressed, and thereby a superior side leakage suppression effect can be obtained.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 includes an absorbent core 41 between a skin facing surface P and a non-skin facing surface Q. The absorbent core 41 contains a fibrous material and a water absorbing polymer has a shape long in the direction along the longitudinal direction of a wearer and has a central region 42, a pair of middle region 43 and a side region 44 positioned further on the outside of the middle region 43, in the width direction Y. The middle region 43 is a portion having a raised part 44a projecting from each upper surface of the central region 42 and the side region 44. The fiber density of the middle region 43 is lower than the fiber density 44 of the central region 42. The middle region 43 extends in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent core 41, and has a high polymer region 43a where many water absorbing polymers exist locally, in a portion of the width direction.
