PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic apparatus which effectively uses light in the vicinity of the optical axis of an illumination optical system that does not contribute to fundus illumination, and can control an emitted light quantity to be suitable for downsizing of the apparatus.SOLUTION: The ophthalmic apparatus includes: a light extraction section that extracts the light in the vicinity of the optical axis that does not contribute to fundus illumination among the light emitted from a light-emitting member; a light-guiding member that leads the light through the light extraction section in a direction that intersects with the optical axis and to a light quantity detection section in a condition that the intensity is attenuated, the light quantity detection section that detects the quantity of light of the light-emitting member through the light-guiding member; and a light emission control section that controls the light emission of the light-emitting member based on the output of the light quantity detection section.
