Tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition and a process for the production of tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition are described herein. Tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one drug substance and at least one water soluble ingredient, wherein cloud point of said water soluble ingredient is greater than about 90°C. Tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition comprising (a) at least one drug substance (b) at least one water soluble ingredient and (c) at least one cloud point modifier, wherein said cloud point modifier increase the cloud point of said water soluble ingredient at least about 90°C. Tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition is prepared by thermal or non-thermal process. Tamper resistant pharmaceutical composition of the present invention inhibits extraction of the drug substance form the pharmaceutical composition by hot water having temperature greater than about 90°C.
