Disclosed is a mutagenised tobacco plant characterised in that it produces a seed quantity of at least 4000 kilograms per hectare at a seeding density of about 125,000 plants per hectare. Also disclosed is the use of the plant, for the production of biomass for biochemical conversion or for thermochemical conversion by direct combustion, carbonisation, pyrolysis, gasification, anaerobic digestion, aerobic digestion, alcoholic fermentation or steam explosion procedures.
