A conjugate of formula (A) according to claim 1 is provided. The conjugate includes pyrrolobenzodiazepine (PBD) with a linker for attachment to a cell binding agent, where the linker is cleavably attached to the CBD position of the PBD. The cell binding agent is preferably an antibody. The present invention also provides PBD compounds to which linking units are bonded and intermediates for their synthesis.
