A multipart housing (158) is attached on a skin surface. The housing includes a functional component (114), which is connected with the insertable element. The housing includes a protection component, which partially encloses the functional component. The protection component is connected with the functional component after insertion of the element. An insertion point is completely surrounded by the housing in a direction parallel to the surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting a functional component of a medical device and an insertable element.
