PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving remains by which occurrence of putrefaction and malodor are suppressed even in summer season and infection to a care person of the remains can be prevented in a state in which the remains are laid out until the remains are cremated and to provide a tool for preserving the remains. SOLUTION: A lower sheet body 1 impregnated with a liquid substance 3 composed of a deodorizing and sterilizing agent is put on a laying member 7 formed in a size capable of laying the remains 6 and the remains are laid on the lower sheet body and one side of the upper sheet body 2 is impregnated with the liquid substance 3 composed of a plant vinegar liquid and the upper sheet body 2 is covered on the remains so as to face the impregnated face to the remains to make the liquid substance 3 act on the remains 6 from the upper and lower faces of the remains 6.
