PURPOSE: To provide, separately from a main braking device, an auxiliary brake device that can maintain a state where braking is effective at a desirable strength to wheels.CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary brake device mounted on a handcart that includes handles, a frame, and wheels includes a holder, a lever, a wire, and a braking member. The holder mounted on the frame includes an operation button ejectable via a push spring, a bar member bent in a substantially U-shape and having one end fixed to the operation button and the other end ejectable to the outside of the holder, and a recessed portion into which a protruded portion formed in the lever is movably fitted. The lever rotatably attached to the holder includes the protruded portion fittable into the recessed portion and a recessed groove into which the bar member is fittable and which has a step. The wire is provided so that one end is fixed to the lever to thereby move the wire up and down.
