PURPOSE: A composition containing Ulmi pasta semen extract and pharmacologically acceptable carriers is provided to induce leukemica cell apoptosis and to be applied to pharmaceutical formulations.CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating leukemia contains an active ingredient prepared by dipping pulverized Ulmi pasta semen in an aliphatic solvent. The extract is prepared by extracting at 50 Deg. C for 24 hours. The EC50 value obtained by alamar blue analysis is 61-65ug/ml. The aliphatic polar solvent is 1-4 alcohol.
