A medical device includes: at least one input device at least one output device at least one operating component and a control unit. The control unit has data access to at least one file pertaining to the medical device, wherein text passages or graphics of the at least one file pertaining to an operating component are selectable. The control unit is configured to, after selection of a text passage or a graphic, cause at least one operating parameter of the operating component and/or at least one output variable that is created by the operating component to be read out as output, and/or facilitate input of an adjustable operating parameter for the operating component.
