An illuminated walking assistance apparatus. The illuminated walkingassistanceapparatus is made in the form of a staff having a light pipe in the lowerportion thereof whichprovides diffused illumination in the immediate vicinity of the apparatus andat the sametime, a bright light visible for a substantial distance to alert or signalothers. A walking aidthat may include an elongated support shaft to be used as a walking support.The length of thesupport shaft may extend between an upper end and a lower end. At the upperend of theelongated support shaft, the walking aid support may include a handle assemblythat includesa hand grip. The walking aid may include a light source having a userinterface that may bedesigned to selectably emit light outward from the elongated support shaft.
