Provided is a system and method for a flared luer connector (100) for medical tubing (906). More specifically, the flared luer connector (100) includes a tube head adapter (102) formed of a resilient material providing an inlet (106) and opposite thereto an outlet (108) with a longitudinal axis (122) there between. A luer lock fitting (104) is formed proximate to the inlet (106) and structured and arranged to engage a syringe (902), and at least one flared member (112) disposed between the luer lock fitting (104) and the outlet (108), the flared member (112) rising from the tube head adapter (102) and angled towards the outlet (108). The flared member (112) also provides at least one engaging surface (120) between the tube head adapter (102) and a distal edge (114), the engaging surface (120) acutely angled with respect to the longitudinal axis (122). The engaging surface (120) is structured and arranged to engage with a corresponding receiving section (308) of a base (300), the base (300) having a deflector section (310) structured and arranged to deflect a tube head adapter having other than the corresponding flared member (112). An associated method (1400) of use is also provided.
