A method of determining the intraocular pressure (IOP) of an eye comprises the steps: (i) providing a measurement device comprising a contact lens having a pressure sensor (ii) introducing the measurement device into the eye; (iii) obtaining data from the measurement device whilst the eye is open; and (iv) using the data obtained in step (iii) to determine the eye IOP. The contact lens profile may be configured so that tear surface tension causes contact lens to conform to a portion of the eye topography. A method of manufacturing a pressure sensor for a contact lens measuring device, the method involves providing a diaphragm and a capacitor plate with a plurality of holes and urging material of the diaphragm through the connector plate holes and then curing the diaphragm to form a flexible diaphragm fixed to the capacitor plate. A measurement device comprising a pressure sensor arranged on/in a contact lens, the sensor having an inductive component and a flexible diaphragm with embedded magnetically permeable components that is movable relative to the inductive component. A measurement device comprising a pressure sensor interference fitted into a contact lens recess. Uses include diagnosing glaucoma and determining aqueous flow through the trabecular meshwork.
