The first chewing surface follows an average (200) of the occlusal surface (108) of the mandibular teeth of the subject. The obesity reduction aid further comprises an upper plate (408, 600) adapted for covering the maxillary teeth (400) of the subject. The upper plate comprises a second elastic material. The upper plate has a second chewing surface (412). The first chewing surface mates with the second chewing surface. The second chewing surface is formed by a protruding ridge (418). The surface area of the first chewing surface is larger than the surface area of the second chewing surface.
