The present invention discloses a remote home gateway controller, a home gateway, a terminal and a terminal control method. Terminal control data used for controlling the terminal is generated by the remote home gateway controller, then the terminal control data is sent to the home gateway, and control of the terminal is implemented by the home gateway according to the terminal control data. That is, the home gateway in the present invention may be executed by the remote home gateway controller without logic operation or other processing. Thus, when the home gateway needs upgrading for being compatible with a plurality of terminals or for adapting to different application environments, it is merely required to conduct a single upgrade on the remote home gateway controller.
