A catheter includes a shaft for insertion into anorgan of a patient, an extendable distal-end assembly,and two or more strengthening elements. The extendabledistal-end assembly is coupled to the shaft and includesmultiple splines, at least one spline includes a flexiblecircuit board having one or more electrodes disposedthereon, the circuit board is configured, when thedistal-end assembly is extended in the organ, to conformto a surface of the organ so as to make contact betweenthe electrodes and the surface. The strengtheningelements are distributed along the circuit board of thespline and are configured to mechanically strengthen thespline.
