A hair coloring composition is provided and includes, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, one or more acrylate monomers. The one or more acrylate monomers have the general Formula I:wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of —H, —CH3 n=0, 1, 2, 3 R2 is selected from the group consisting of —H, —CH3, and —OH R3 is selected from the group consisting of —H, —CH3, —CH2OH, —CH2OCH3, —CH2Cl, —CH2Br, —Cl, and —COOH.The hair coloring composition has a pH from 8 to 12.
