The invention relates to a device for mixing a polymethyl methacrylate bonecementformed of two starting components (1, 2) and for storing the startingcomponents (1, 2) ofthe bone cement, said device having a tubular cartridge (3, 4) with acylindrical interior,wherein a powder (1) is contained as first starting component in a front partof the interiorof the cartridge (3, 4) and a container (9) containing a monomer liquid (2) assecondstarting component is arranged in a rear part of the interior of the cartridge(3, 4), whereina discharge piston (6) is arranged between the container (9) and the powder(1), andwherein a conveying piston (5) is arranged on the side of the container (9)opposite thedischarge piston (6), wherein the discharge piston (6) and the conveyingpiston (5) arearranged in the interior of the cartridge (3, 4) movably in the longitudinaldirection, whereina conduit means (22) is provided, which connects the front part and the rearpart of theinterior of the cartridge (3, 4) to one another in a manner permeable for themonomerliquid (2) and for gases and which is impermeable for the powder (1).The invention also relates to methods for mixing the starting components (1,2) and to amethod for producing a prepacked PMMA cement cartridge system suitable formixingand applying a PMMA bone cement dough (44).
