A feminine care absorbent article comprises an absorbent structure 921 that is configured for disposition adjacent a female wearer's vaginal region to absorb bodily discharged fluids. A shell 914 supports the absorbent structure 921 at the vaginal region and has an adhesive 944 on its body-facing surface for adhering the shell 914 directly to the wearer's body. The adhesive 944 is applied to a first area of the body facing surface to provide a first adhesive strength and to a second area to provide a second, weaker adhesive strength. The adhesive 944 in the first area may have a different thickness than that at the second area. The adhesive 944 may be applied in stripes, the stripes in the first area having a different width to those in the second area. Other disclosed absorbent articles comprise: a body facing surface comprising an adhesive with a pattern and a visual cue associated with the adhesive； a body facing adhesive with a non-uniform adhesive pattern； a body facing surface with at least a portion that is adhesive free； and a body facing surface with a first region having a first adhesive formulation and a second region having a second, different adhesive formulation.
