Recombinant insect allergens (I) having reduced immunoglobulin E (IgE) reactivity and allergenicity, are new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) producing essentially pure recombinant insect venom allergens (Ia) though preparation as inclusion bodies (IB), in bacterial cells； denaturing IB, then conversion to soluble, monomeric form with different folding conformations by dialysis； (2) recombinant wasp venom allergens (Ib) produced by method (1)； and (3) use of recombinant (I) with normal allergenicity and IgE reactivity for in vitro diagnosis of insect sting allergies.
