PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving the freshness of perishables such as cut flowers, fresh vegetables, and bean sprouts for a long time by preventing them from drying without deteriorating the qualities. SOLUTION: A sodium chloride solution is highly effective for preserving the perishables. The perishables are thoroughly dipped in a large amount of a diluted sodium chloride solution to lightly coat them with the sodium chloride solution, and thus the aqueous environmental structure of the plant is improved to increase shelf stability and utilization.
