PURPOSE: A vegetable insulating oil composition for a transformer is provided to have excellent biodegradation property, and to have low viscosity, thereby increasing thermal stability and mobility. CONSTITUTION: A vegetable insulating oil composition for a transformer comprises: a step of conducting esterification by mixing vegetable oil, low molecular weight alcohol and alkali catalyst; a step of phase-separating the reacted mixture; a step of neutralizing and dehydrating an ester layer after collecting the ester layer which is an upper layer among the phase-separated material. The low molecular weight alcohol is methanol or ethanol. The alkali catalyst is selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide, sodium methoxide, and sodium ethoxide.
