Procedure for concentration of muddy water and other fluid suspensions. In the suspension, flocculation is brought about and then blended in the suspension while it flows to a drainage device. Highly absorbent, greatly decomposed yet still biologically active compost is used as a filter aid for absorbing the fluid and the particles suspended therein. The blend of compost and fluid suspension is homogenized through stirring. The particle size of the compost is substantially larger than the size of the suspended particles. The blend of compost and water suspension is then fed into a drainage device.
