A radiotherapy method for treatment of skin includes the step of applying radiation to a first region of interest of a persons skin using a radiotherapy device including a first filter having a first thickness and a first applicator having a first length. A flow of desired photons emitted from an x-ray tube of the radio therapy device is increased by (a) replacing the first applicator with a second applicator having a second length shorter than the first length, replacing the first filter with a second filter having a second thickness greater than the first thickness, and using a first dose rate less than one thousand centigray per minute, or (b) replacing the first applicator with the second applicator, using a third filter having a third thickness less than or equal to the first thickness, and using a second dose rate greater than one thousand centigray per minute.
