A particulate cellulose derivative is obtained in a process of grinding and drying a moist cellulose derivative which comprises the steps of A) providing a cellulose derivative having a moisture content of from 60 to 95 percent, based on the total weight of the moist cellulose derivative, B) grinding and partially drying the moist cellulose derivative in a gas-swept impact mill； and C) contacting the ground and partially dried cellulose derivative with an additional amount of a drying gas outside the gas-swept impact mill. The obtained particulate cellulose derivative has a high untapped bulk density and a good flowability.L'invention concerne un dérivé de cellulose particulaire obtenu par un procédé de broyage et de séchage d'un dérivé de cellulose humide qui comprend les étapes, consistant : A) à utiliser un dérivé de cellulose présentant une teneur en humidité de 60 à 95% sur la base du poids total du dérivé de cellulose humide ； B) à broyer et à sécher partiellement le dérivé de cellulose humide dans un broyeur à percussion à balayage pneumatique ； et C) à mettre en contact le dérivé de cellulose broyé et partiellement séché avec un volume supplémentaire de gaz de séchage à l'extérieur du broyeur à percussion à balayage pneumatique. Le dérivé de cellulose particulaire obtenu présente une masse volumique apparente élevée non utilisée et une bonne aptitude à l'écoulement.
