PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the surface sheet of absorbent article that reduces liquid outflow on the surface and has good permeability and cushiony nature, and also provide its efficient manufacture process.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article has first and second layers both made of nonwoven fabric. The first layer 1 is a surface sheet 10 contacting the skin. The first layer 1 in part has many convexities 6 protruding to the skin contact side. Both first and second layers 1, 2 in part 13, 23 respectively have many liquid guide concavities 3 protruding to the skin non-contact side. The first layer 1 and second layer 2 are joined together at the bottom ends 31 of liquid guide concavities 3 to form their many joints 4 in two directions, i.e. one direction and the other crossing it, within the surface sheet plane. In both the directions, the first layer 1 is always longer than the second layer 2 in the length between adjacent joints 4, 4. Both of first and second layers 1 and 2 are in the shape of waves in section in both the directions.
