A flat pack planter having four interlocking side panels and a base panel. The side panels are interlocked with cross lap joints that are cut at an angle other than 90 degrees to form a tapering four sided structure； wherein one panel will have a slot positioned at the top edge of the panel and a second panel will have a slot positioned at the bottom edge of the panel, the engagement of the upper and lower slots interlocks said panels and forms the cross lap joint. The side edge of the base panel that engages with the side panels, has an angled profile that matches the angle of the cross lap joints. When the base panel is positioned inside the four sided construction the shaped base panel holds the side panels of the planter in a square or rectangular form without the need for mechanical fittings or the adhesive glue. The planter may be square or rectangular.
