PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bactericidal agent which has high bactericidal effect against Staphylococcus aureus and excellent persistence of the bactericidal effect.SOLUTION: A bactericidal agent against Staphylococcus aureus comprises calcium palmitoleate which is calcium cis-hexadec-6-enoate or a mixture of the calcium cis-hexadec-6-enoate and calcium cis-hexadec-9-enoate, as an active ingredient. The calcium palmitoleate is solid at room temperature, and has an extremely low solubility against a solvent such as water and ethanol, high bactericidal effect against Staphylococcus aureus and excellent persistence of the bactericidal effect.
