A device and methods for use in determining the trajectory of a patella (116) of a patient during a navigated knee replacement surgical procedure (200) are described. The device includes a first component (138) including a mounting (144) for attachment to a posterior surface of the patients patella and a second component (140) having an outer surface presenting a formation (146, 152) adapted to engage with a femoral part of the patients knee. A slider mechanism (168, 170) allows the second component to translate relative to the first component in a substantially medial-lateral direction (176) of the patient when the first component is attached to the patients patella. The device can be used in a method to help determine the medial-lateral position for a patella implant.Linvention porte sur un dispositif et un procédé permettant de déterminer la trajectoire de la rotule (116) dun patient pendant opération de navigation chirurgicale de remplacement du genou. Le dispositif comporte un premier composant (138) comportant une monture (144) se fixant à la surface postérieure de la rotule, et un deuxième composant (140) dont la surface extérieure comporte une formation (146, 152) sengageant dans la oartie fémorale du genou. Un mécanisme à coulisseau (168, 170) permet la translation du deuxième composant par rapport au premier dans une direction sensiblement médiale/latérale du patient lorsque le premier composant est fixé à la rotule. Le dispositif peut donc servir dans une méthode permettant de déterminer la position médiale latérale dun implant dans la rotule.
