There is a walking aid (1), comprising a handle (2) for a user to grip and a shaft (3) extending downwards when in use from the handle. At the end of the shaft there is an actuator support (4), having extent transverse of the shaft and six linear actuators (7, 8) connected as triangular pairs to the actuator support at their top end, and at the bottom ends pivotally connected to 3 direct drive wheels (9). The position of each wheel can be individually adjusted with respect to another wheel to help a user on an inclined surface, to get up or sit down or to navigate a step. The walking aid can also include a processor, Wifi capabilities, voice recognition services and emergency communication to a third party.
