Provided are a real-time computer tomography image transmission and display method and system. The major feature of the method is to employ the transfer-on-demand (TOD) in conjunction with a progressive transmission method for processing the projection data of slice images constituting the computer tomography, wherein a remote request is generated according to the users need and click-on after that, a remote database transmits part of the projection data via a mobile network, such as 3G, Wi-Fi, etc., to the remote portable smart electronic device, such as a mobile phone, a tablet computer, etc., so that the rebuilding program installed in the portable smart electronic device may use a 3D image rebuilding algorithm to rebuild the projection data obtained as the initial slice images for preliminary recognition by doctors and display the same on the portable smart electronic device.
