PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a new component having excellent pH-buffering action, and capable of suppressing pH change, especially pH reduction in the oral cavity, and to provide an oral composition capable of preventing the crisis of dental caries by containing such the component.SOLUTION: The method for producing sericin having the excellent pH-buffering action includes extracting the sericin from cocoon filaments by using water, regulating the pH of the obtained extract within the range of 2.5-4.5, and collecting the supernatant.
