METHOD FOR SEPARATING THE PHASES OF A LIQUID MIXTURE AND SUBSEQUENTLY SEPARATING A LIQUID SUPERNATANT, PHASE SEPARATOR FOR THE METHOD, AND STOPPER FOR THE PHASE SEPARATOR
The invention relates to a specially designed stopper for a vessel, preferably a centrifugation vessel, to a phase separator which has said stopper, to a method for separating a liquid supernatant by means of the phase separator, to an assembly consisting of the stopper and a receiving container, and to a combination of the phase separator and the receiving container. The stopper is designed to be suitable for closing a vessel which has an end-face opening and an inner wall by means of a press fit with the inner wall and has a passage which is closed by a membrane. The material and thickness of the membrane is selected such that the membrane can be pierced by means of a cannula and thus become permeable to liquids when pressure is manually generated. According to the method, the stopper is pushed in the direction of the base until the supernatant to be separated is pushed through the passage and thus reaches the receiving container without having to pierce the membrane again.
