The invention provides an apparatus for growing vegetations, such as mushrooms or the like, comprising a number of vegetation boxes (1) that are positioned between two distanced endless transporting means (2), such as chains or the like, that both describe a roundgoing track positioned in a vertical plane. The transporting means (2) are provided with jibs (3) extending outwardly in the plane of their roundgoing track and carrying the vegetation boxes (1). Due to this arrangement the bulk factor of the apparatus can be raised substantially.
