To a system and method for releasably connecting an extendable element to an actuator. The system may include an actuator housing having an integral connection end having a cavity therein having a special function. The extendable element may be connected to the actuating element of the actuator by a rotatable joint ring extending into the cavity through the opening of the connecting end of the housing and located within the cavity. The cover plate forms part of the actuator housing connection end. The cover plate complements the integral part of the connecting end and, in conjunction therewith, surrounds the connecting part and the connecting ring of the extendable element. A substantially hollow end cap is moved past the extendable element and detachably attached to the actuator housing to surround its outer connection end.
