FIELD: agriculture.SUBSTANCE: alleged group of inventions relates to fodder production, namely, to composition and a method of modifying bacterial microflora of the gastrointestinal tract of animals. Method of strengthening the animal's gastrointestinal health consists in administration of a composition containing an effective amount of lactic acid and an effective amount of bacterial exopolysaccharides. Strengthening includes lowering in the gastrointestinal tract of at least one kind or type of harmful bacteria selected from Enterococcus and Desulfovibrio, or from a group consisting of Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium difficile, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio cholerae, Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes, Yersinia enterocolitica, Campylobacter jejuni, Shigella spp. Composition suitable for reinforcement of animal's gastrointestinal health, contains an effective amount of bacterial exopolysaccharides and a quantity of lactic acid strengthening gastrointestinal health. At that, the composition represent a fodder composition with full content of nutrients for domestic companion animals and contains at least one of the improving health of the gastrointestinal tract agents selected from a group consisting of probiotics and prebiotics, simbiotics, therapeutic agents against diarrhea, antibiotics and their combinations.
