The device has a main box (10) that is ready to receive a granular material e.g. sand, that is to be tested. The main box includes a base plate on which two longitudinal walls are fixed, where the longitudinal walls are transparent and rigid. A plate (40) is movable in translation between the longitudinal walls of the main box to apply a pressure to the granular material according to an axis. A set of measuring units e.g. camera (50) is utilized to measure displacement of grains of the granular material through the longitudinal walls of the main box.
