A wrist member (10) has a flexible tube (26) that includes an axis extending through the inside surrounded by a wall. The wall of the flexible tube includes a plurality of lumens directed so as to be parallel to the axis of the flexible tube. The wrist member (10) includes a proximal part connected to the work end of the elongated shaft and a distal part connected to an end effector (12).
