This invention relates to an obstacle detecting device that could be conveniently used by visually impaired or blind people to determine the presence of an obstacle along their path or direction of travel and allow them to readily avoid it. The obstacle detecting device comprises a main processing unit, an ultrasonic sensor being provided with the main processing unit, and sensing means. The sensing means includes an audio being supported by an audio files memory storage, a vibrating means defined by a vibrating motor, and a radio frequency transceiver being complemented with at least one RFID card.
