PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flavor releasing material having a protective effect against loss, alteration by chemical change or the like of a fragrance during storage of a food or the like and during heating by cooking or the like, a food containing the flavor releasing material, a method for producing the flavor releasing material, and uses of the flavor releasing material.SOLUTION: A flavor releasing material includes a plant fiber material provided with natural or artificial cavities. The flavor releasing material further includes a solution containing at least one fragrance and at least one lipophilic component, for example, oil or fat. The solution is applied to the cavities which give controlled release of the fragrance.
