Disclosed are an ultrasonic monitoring apparatus and a method thereof for detecting cavitation. The ultrasonic monitoring apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a transducer which emits high intensity ultrasound waves onto an object, and receives a cavitation state of the object generated by the high intensity ultrasound waves as a backward scattering signal； and a signal analyzing unit which analyzes the backward scattering signal received through the transducer and calculates the amount of change in the intensity of a noise signal included in the backward scattering signal.캐비테이션 검출을 위한 초음파 모니터링 장치 및 그 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 초음파 모니터링 장치는 대상체에 고강도 초음파를 조사하고 고강도 초음파에 의해 대상체에서 발생한 캐비테이션 상태를 후방산란 신호로 수신하는 트랜스듀서와, 트랜스듀서를 통해 수신된 후방산란 신호를 분석하여 후방산란 신호에 포함된 노이즈 신호의 세기 변동량을 계산하는 신호 분석부를 포함한다.
