To provide a moving form discrimination method for accurately discriminating a moving form including discrimination of movement by a vehicle such as an automobile or a train and movement by the physical activity of a subject by simple calculation.
SOLUTION: A triaxial acceleration sensor is attached to the subject who moves in various kinds of moving forms beforehand and the data of the ratio rz of vertical direction components Az to the total vector At of the triaxial acceleration sensor during the movement is gathered at several hundreds of points at least for each moving form. When discriminating an unknown moving form, Mahalanobis generalized distance between the discriminated data rz calculated from the output of the triaxial acceleration sensor during the movement and a data group corresponding to the respective moving forms is calculated and it is determined that the movement is performed by the moving form of the data group of the shortest distance.
