Provided herein are substituted biarylsulfonamide compounds of formula (I), pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds, methods for their preparation and methods for their use. The compounds are useful for the treatment, prevention and amelioration of various diseases. In one embodiment, the compound modulates protein translation initiation. In one embodiment, the compound is used in combination with surgery, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and additional anticancer agents for the treatment, prevention and amelioration of the disease.
